Students 16–19, living locally

A 2-month paid summer job at Carioca Breezy, for young people who already live here. We also host local secondary school students as interns or apprentices, year round, through a direct protocol with your school.

A 2-month Erasmus+ traineeship for European students, immersed in everything Awaken Azores does. University students from São Miguel can also join through a direct internship protocol with their institution.

Each summer, from June to September, we welcome 4 seasonal collaborators for 30 days each, with a private studio on our property, meals and a stipend.

A first summer job for young residents

Every year, from 15 June to 15 September, we open paid seasonal positions at our food truck, Carioca Breezy, for secondary school students living in Sete Cidades and the surrounding villages. It's real work — service, prep, the small choreography of a garden food truck on a busy afternoon — done close to home, in a place you already know well.

We offer short-term contracts in line with Portuguese labour law, including work insurance and social security contributions. For minors, we also require parental involvement — parents or guardians review and sign a consent agreement before the start of work.

A traineeship in the frame of the Erasmus+ programme

We can host European university students in our STUDIO for a 2-month Erasmus+ traineeship, twice a year — April-May or October-November, 30 hours a week. Your daily work centers on the everyday running of the business. You'll lend a hand wherever Awaken Azores needs it, across our gastronomy, art and hospitality projects. It's hands-on, varied work, set inside a small, slow-paced village, in daily contact with travellers, neighbours, and visitors from all over the world.

Outside your working hours, your time is entirely your own. Some trainees rest and explore the island — Sete Cidades alone could fill a season. Others get involved with our art side. Others simply follow their own curiosity, wherever it leads, on this island. What you make of the experience is up to you.

A local internship or apprenticeship

For secondary and university students from São Miguel, we're open to hosting interns and apprentices throughout the year, outside the summer season. This works through a direct protocol between Awaken Azores and your school or university — your institution formalises the placement through the channels your programme already has in place.

The work varies depending on where Awaken Azores needs hands — Carioca Breezy, the artist residency, the garden, or the hospitality project in development. We treat every placement as a real experience. If you're interested, talk to your school or university first — then write to us directly so we know you're coming.
