A first summer job for young residents
Every year, from 15 June to 15 September, we open paid seasonal positions at our food truck, Carioca Breezy, for secondary school students living in Sete Cidades and the surrounding villages. It's real work — service, prep, the small choreography of a garden food truck on a busy afternoon — done close to home, in a place you already know well.
We offer short-term contracts in line with Portuguese labour law, including work insurance and social security contributions. For minors, we also require parental involvement — parents or guardians review and sign a consent agreement before the start of work.

A traineeship in the frame of the Erasmus+ programme
We can host European university students for a 3-month Erasmus+ traineeship, twice a year — April to June or July to September, 30 hours a week. Your daily work centers on Carioca Breezy — service, prep, the everyday running of the business — but you'll also lend a hand wherever Awaken Azores needs it, across our art and hospitality projects. It's hands-on, varied work, set inside a small, slow-paced village, in daily contact with travellers, neighbours, and visitors from all over the world.
Outside your working hours, your time is entirely your own. Some trainees rest and explore the island — Sete Cidades alone could fill a season. Others get involved with our art side: the artist residency, the studio, the WanderWall... Others simply follow their own curiosity, wherever it leads, on this island. What you make of the experience is up to you.

A future season of international volunteering
Awaken Azores will soon have its own associative branch, built to give shape and a proper legal footing to community-based projects like volunteering. Once it's in place, from 2027 on, we'll open a structured volunteering programme: 30 to 90 days, all year round, alongside accommodation, meals, and a documented expense allowance.
If this sounds like you, leave your details below — we'll write to you the moment the programme opens.
